Terrapin Beach House

Sleeps 82-night minimum$475/night weekdays · $525/night weekends

About the house

Front row on the Pacific. Sand at your feet, Haystack Rock framed dead center, 180 degrees of ocean from Porter Point to Cape Kiwanda. No street, no neighbors, no buffer — just the deck and the surf. Sand-walk to Pelican Brewery for sunset pints. Climb the dune at Cape Kiwanda. Watch the dory boats launch at dawn. Surf lessons, tide pools, bonfires on the beach, kite-flying weather most of the year. Inside: a 2024 chef's kitchen, three-zone mini-split A/C, and a deck built for hosting. Sleeps eight in comfort. The trip the family will ask for every year. Pacific City, on purpose.

Beach fires

Beach campfires are allowed within Pacific City's rules: build them on the beach below the dune, keep them small, never leave them unattended, and douse them completely before you leave. No fires in the dunes.

Honest note on winter

Honest note about winter: Pacific City catches big wind storms, and the dunes between the house and the ocean are a working sand berm — sometimes it's tall, sometimes the surf has carved it back. The berm changes every year, and that's part of living on this coastline. The beach access is always there; the view from the deck may shift a bit between visits. We try our best to have the sand leveled in front of the house but cannot guarantee it since the wind can change the dune in a matter of a day.

Cleaning fee

The cleaning fee goes to our housekeepers. They work hard between stays, and we pay a living wage.

Recording devices

For the security of the home, we have exterior cameras above each deck door. These are turned OFF during stays. A Ring doorbell at the front entry is always on and covers the entryway and driveway. There are no cameras of any kind inside the home.
